DivX Announces Deals with Samsung, Broadcom, Yamaha and Media Markt

DivX is having strong week at IFA, striking deals with  Samsung, Broadcom, Yamaha and Media Markt.

Samsung

This morning Samsung announced support of DivX with its new Android tablet, the  Galaxy Tab.  It is the first tablet with DivX installed.

Broadcom

DivX announced that Broadcom Corporation’s BCM3549 connected digital television (DTV) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution is the company’s first platform to complete DivX Plus HD Certification. DivX Plus HD Certification is the premium level of certification available from DivX

Broadcom’s high-performance and advanced solution will power the playback of DivX Plus HD 1080p video in the MKV container on DTVs using the USB slot or streaming from the home network via Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) support. Broadcom’s BCM3549 digital TV platform with DivX Plus HD support will be demonstrated at IFA 2010.

The BCM3549 DTV platform features an advanced multi-format video decoder, 3D/2D graphics core, Ethernet MAC and PHY, DLNA support and 1080p60 input and output capability. Integrated DLNA technology support enables consumers to locate and enjoy digital content anywhere on their home network and effortlessly move or stream this content between DLNA-connected devices.

Yamaha

Today the IFA trade show the worldwide launch of Yamaha DivX Plus HD Certified Blu-ray players happen.

Yamaha’s new line of Blu-ray players are 3D-ready and feature universal playback (BD, SA-CD, DVD-Audio/Video, CD). The BD-S1067 will be available in Europe to start, and Yamaha plans to launch additional DivX HD Certified Blu-ray player models in North America, Oceania and other areas in the future.

With DivX Plus HD technology, these Blu-ray devices will empower consumers to enjoy their personal and Internet video collections in the DivX format directly on their TVs. DivX makes it simple to load and playback digital videos up to 1080p and Hollywood movies in DivX.

Media Markt

Finally today DivX announced at the IFA trade show a new cooperation with Media Markt,  Europe’s largest consumer electronics retailer, to launch a online movie store for the German market. Now available at  http://video-download.mediamarkt.de, this new service enables the digital distribution of a broad catalogue of high-quality, premium movie titles compatible with millions of DivX devices from all major CE brands.

Media Markt is Germany’s and Europe’s Number One electrical goods retailer. Media Markt has partnered with DivX to bring premium protected movie downloading to its customer base in Germany. Media Markt customers who try this new movie download service are guaranteed secure playback beyond the PC on any device that bears the DivX Certification logo.
