With the growing population of Macintosh users around the globe, manufacturers are working double time to meet the growing demands of this particular audience. Hardware and software manufacturers are now creating Mac versions for what used to be a Windows dominated marketplace. In an effort to support this growing demand for Mac applications, InFocus Corporation, provider of digital projection technology, today announced the availability of the InFocus DisplayLink support for Mac, a display driver that allows Intel-based Apple computers to transmit audio and video content over a standard USB connection for instant set up with DisplayLink enabled InFocus projectors.

“InFocus continues to meet market demands, as evidenced by the release of the InFocus DisplayLink Mac Driver-”enabling users to create an even more collaborative and productive meeting environment through instant set up and multi-presentation options,” noted David Woolf, InFocus’ Vice President of Global Marketing.

By using the DisplayLink feature, Mac-based presenters can enjoy “plug and project” convenience by simply connecting a standard USB 2.0 cable to the projector. The InFocus DisplayLink Mac driver is immediately detected by the computer and will configure with the DisplayLink enabled InFocus projector settings within seconds-”resulting in zero set up time and instant screen switching so users can start using the projector instantly. Users will appreciate DisplayLink’s multi-display capability, which makes it possible to project up to four projectors simultaneously from just one computer. This feature also allows users to create video walls, and presentation of multiple contents during meetings, making it an ideal solution for videoconferences and collaborative meetings where two or more live broadcasts need to be shown simultaneously.

The InFocus DisplayLink Mac Driver enables an all digital connection, doesn’t require any additional InFocus-specific control software, and only needs one   USB cable in place of both an analog PC cable and PC adaptor that projectors typically require for Mac use. Moreover, set-up adjustments can be controlled through the computer’s own video settings. The driver supports connectivity to DisplayLink enabled InFocus projectors utilizing Intel-based Apple computers running minimum Apple OS X, Tiger 10.4.11, or Leopard 10.5.5. Supported models include Mac Mini (Intel), iMac (Intel), MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro.

The InFocus DisplayLink Mac Driver comes embedded on the new InFocus IN3108 meeting room projector, which will be available in February 2009 and can also be downloaded on the InFocus Support Site  for use on the previously launched DisplayLink enabled IN110 and IN3100 projector series.

“DisplayLink USB graphics brings unparalleled ease of use to projector connectivity,” said Dennis Crespo, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for DisplayLink. “We aim to offer the same ease of use that people have come to expect from a Macintosh -“ technology that just simply works.”
