Disney Channel has given the green light for the third telemovie in its popular musical Descendants franchise which follows the teenage sons and daughters of classic Disney villains.
The news was revealed last night during Disney Channel’s airing of Zombies as Descendant Mal (Dove Cameron), the daughter of Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent, teased a new villain: her father.
Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Mitchell Hope and China Anne McClain are all expected back for the new film which has begun production in Vancouver ahead of a Summer 2019 premiere.
Kenny Ortega will executive produce, choreograph and direct from a script by franchise veterans Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon.
Last year’s Descendants 2 pulled in 21 million total viewers across multiple networks in Live+3.
