Version three of the Tiffen Company’s Dfx Digital Filter Suite is now available, bringing more than 10 new filters, updated host support, interface tweaks and other improvements to the popular photo and video filter suite. The software simulates over 2,000 Tiffen glass filters, optical processes, film grains and specialized lenses and natural light and photographic effects. The new version adds enhanced multi-processor acceleration for significant speed gains.

The program is offered as a plug-in for Photoshop and compatible programs for photo editing, a Video and Film plug-in compatible with most major editing packages, and as a standalone program. Now with over 125 filters and thousands of customizable presets, Dfx includes lighting libraries, a paint system, non-destructive image effects, sophisticated masking tools, batch processing, EXIF as well as RAW, TIFF, JPG and Cineon and DPX support and a layering system for multiple filters.

Among the new filters included in the latest version are Color Shadow, which helps re-create the look of Apple’s iconic iPod commercials; DeBand, DeBlock and DeNoise for dealing with artifacts resulting from compression and grain; Glow Darks and Key Light, which grows dark spaces or re-lights images respectively; 113 color and black & white film stocks fro popular brands like Agfa, Ilford and Kodak; Rays, which creates light ray effects; the ability to apply textures to an image, and Match, which applies color, detail and gradient tones from one image to another.
