Dell has just unveiled a beast of a monitor, the P4317Q, also known as the Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor, which is geared towards financial traders and software developers. Its 43-inch display can run as a single monitor at 3840×2160 @ 60Hz; however, P4317Q’s real strength is as a bezel-less option to output four separate desktops, each at 1080p.

The support for up to four independent Full HD views on this monster display is made possible thanks to the company’s Enhanced Display Manager software. According to Dell, this setup would especially come handy for developers when reading multi-screen source code along with software testing from multiple machines on a single display.

Here’s how Dell describes its newest monitor:

Designed in conjunction with financial services customers, the Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor gives traders a large, crisp viewing experience on a 43-inch (108 cm) screen that delivers Ultra HD 4K2 or four separate Full HD resolution screens without the interruption of bezels, as well as a matte finish that reduces glare and strain on eyes….

Importantly, the P4317Q was designed to be energy efficient. By replacing four monitors with a single display, the Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor provides a 30 percent energy consumption savings. The P4317Q also features dual 8W speakers.

Spec-wise, Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor features a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a brightness rating of 350 cd/m2. Its viewing angles are listed at 178 degrees, along with response times rated at 8ms.

I/O ports include a full-size DisplayPort 1.2, mini-DisplayPort 1.2, dual HDMI 1.4 ports, a legacy VGA 15-pin DSUB, and a four-port USB 3.0 hub. The monitor also offers an RS232 port for remote management, though it’s not clear why it needs a serial port.

Moreover, Dell’s newest monitor can accept input from multiple sources simultaneously, allowing you to control them from the same monitor at once provided that each system has the appropriate video ports.

As you would expect, the price tag on the panel isn’ t cheap, but still is fair. The Dell P4317Q is available starting today for $1,350, being offered with a Premium Panel Guarantee which lasts for three years.
