DC Comics Dangles Teaser for Future’s End

dc-futures-end-teaserIn the world of DC Comics, red skies mean one thing: a Crisis. Could we be on our way to the first real Crisis of the New 52? The timing sure seems to be right. There are rumors that the third weekly series, launching this Fall, will be Earth 2-centric, and that the war Futures End is trying to avoid is a war between Earths. Grant Morrison’s The Multiversity is finally launching in August, fully establishing the multiverse of a new age. There is time travel and interdimensional war, red skies, and oh yeah, next year also happens to be the 30th anniversary of the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, essentially the first big “summer crossover” style event that changed the face of the entire DC Universe.

Of course, “Blood Moon” could be seen as a tie-in to the full Lunar eclipse that happened overnight, but it could also be mentioning another long-lost WildStorm character named, yes, Bloodmoon. Robert Diaz was one of the Kindred – and formerly one of the Team 7 members. With Grifter’s heavy involvement in Futures End, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this guy make his New 52 debut – perhaps he’s the one in the suit on the far right, and Cadmus Island, where Grifter is headed in June issues of the series, stands in for Caballito Island from Bloodmoon’s original story?

The first Futures End teases have already begun in the pages of DC Comics as well, with Stormwatch obliquely dancing around it, and Aquaman and the Others very blatantly going full-force into it, so this very well could be the beating of the drums of multiversal war.
