Corsair on Monday revealed a “palm-sized” wireless hard drive with a built-in rechargeable battery and 1 TB of storage, making it a great companion for travelling on the road. This second-generation wireless drive packs updated software that automatically organizes media files, making it easy to find movies and TV shows stored on the device.

Called the Voyager Air 2, this drive is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows PC and Mac. Similar to other wireless drives on the market, Corsair’s solution provides its own Wireless G connectivity so that wireless devices like smartphones and tablets can connect directly to the device, up to 90 feet. Up to five devices can connect simultaneously and stream 720p video while the rechargeable battery promises up to seven hours of video streaming.

In addition to media sharing, the new Voyager Air 2 can serve as a mobile wireless hub for sharing Internet access. Just connect the drive to a wireless hotspot and enable wireless passthrough. The drive also serves as a USB 3.0 external drive, and comes ready to use in NTFS (Windows). Got a Mac? The device can be easily reformatted to HFS+ for Apple’s Time Machine.

“The drive can also be connected wirelessly to a home network for easy access to media from DLNA-compatible smart TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, DVRs, and streaming media boxes,” Corsair said in a statement. “Plus full Airplay compatibility allows convenient streaming to big screen TVs via an Apple TV.”

Corsair reports that its Voyager Air 2 is “cloud friendly,” as the drive can synchronize with Dropbox or Google Drive folders. That also means content can be made available offline, and updated once users reconnect to the Internet.

Corsair’s Voyager Air 2 is available now (early June) for $179.99 USD.
