ComiXology Appoints Former HBO Go Exec DiBartolomeo as New CTO

Comixology BartolemeoOn the cusp of surpassing 200 million comic and graphic novel downloads, comiXology has named Jeff DiBartolomeo its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). DiBartolomeo previously served in senior technology roles for HBO’s HBO GO and Volume.com units. As comiXology’s CTO, DiBartolomeo oversees digital innovation and data management and delivery for the leading global cloud-based digital comics platform.

“Jeff is accustomed to working in fast-moving digital content environments and brings the technology skill set, energy and management expertise to deliver comiXology’s more than 40,000 digital comics to an ever-expanding audience worldwide,” said comiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger.

Near-term, DiBartolomeo and his team are preparing comiXology for the iOS 7 platform that’s expected to rollout this fall. Other priorities include a deepened focus on comiXology’s reading and shopping experience, including personalizing that experience with a robust recommendations engine, and expanding international access.

Before joining comiXology, DiBartolomeo spent more than a decade at HBO where, as SVP of Consumer Technology, he was one of the three founders of the industry-leading HBO GO service and led the technology team responsible for building and operating the service. Prior to joining HBO, Jeff was CTO of the urban Internet portal Volume.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of HBO.
