Paramount Studio announced on Monday that the horror movie Eli will get a wide release on Jan. 4, 2019. The film from Sinister 2 director Ciaran Foy tells the story of a secluded clinic, where a boy with a rare disease is being treated. Soon, the clinic becomes a haunted prison without a way out. In addition to Eli, Foy is writing and directing the upcoming project The Shee for Blumhouse.

David Chirchirillo penned the script for Eli, which made the 2015 Black List. Screenwriters Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, known for their 2016 supernatrural horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe, revised the script.

Trevor Macy is producing Eli via his Intrepid Pictures banner, with John Zaozirny also producing via Bellevue Productions. Matt Alvarez will executive produce, with Melinda Nishioka co-producing for Intrepid.

Currently, Eli is the only studio movie set to open on Jan. 4, 2019.
