Chrome v44 hit the beta channel last month and now the update is rolling out to the stable app via the Play Store. While Google isn’t very specific in what has changed, there are usually several hidden features in Chrome version bumps.
The changelog for the update on the Play Store simply reads “bug fixes and speedy performance improvements,” which leaves much to our imagination. The beta version of Chrome 44 included an experimental New Tab page, as well as a new Reader Mode. Neither of those features appear to have made it to the stable version of Chrome 44, however.

The Chrome team is excited to announce the launch of Chrome 44 for Android. Chrome 44.0.2403.128 will be available in Google Play over the next few days. This release fixes a boatload of bugs and performance issues, we hope you love it. A partial list of changes in this build are available in the Git log.
