CBS Gives Extant a New Wednesday Time Slot

ExtantCBS is moving its second-year drama “Extant,” which fell to series-low ratings last night, to a new 9 p.m. time period starting next week.

The Halle Berry drama will now air immediately after “Big Brother,” which has consistently been the top-rated Wednesday program in adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. “Extant” will be trading timeslots with “Criminal Minds,” whose repeats will now air for the rest of summer at 10 o’clock.

Last night’s “Big Brother” did a 2.0 in the demo, but “Extant” fell to 0.6 (and 5.8 million viewers overall) at 10. In between, “Criminal Minds” did a 0.8 rating.

The timeslot switch is a reversal of last year, when “Extant” bowed in early July at 9 p.m. on Wednesday before moving to 10 p.m., after “Criminal Minds,” three weeks later.
