Skype currently has some issues working properly and is more likely to crash. Skype is working on release to address the issue.

While you wait for Skype to release a fix. Below is a work around that does the trick for most of us. As you can see there is different work around depending on the official Skype desktop client you us and the OS it is running on.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Close Skype.
a. Right-click the Skype icon in the system tray (at the bottom right of the screen)
b. Choose Quit.
2. Ensure that “Show hidden files and folders” is switched on.
a. Click Start, type run and press Enter.
b. Type control folders and click OK.
c. Select the View tab and ensure relevant entry is enabled.
3. Locate the shared.xml file.
a. Click Start, type run and press Enter.
b. Type %appdata%\skype and click OK.
c. Delete the shared.xml file.
4. Restart Skype. The shared.xml file will be recreated.

Windows XP

1. Close Skype.
a. Right-click the Skype icon in the system tray (at the bottom right of the screen)
b. Choose Quit.
2. Ensure that “Show hidden files and folders” is switched on.
a. Click Start and then Run…
b. Type control folders and click OK.
c. Select the View tab and ensure relevant entry is enabled.
3. Locate the shared.xml file.
a. Click Start and then Run…
b. Type %appdata%\skype and click OK.
c. Delete the shared.xml file.
4. Restart Skype. The shared.xml file will be recreated.

Mac OS X

1. Quit Skype.
2. Go to the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/
3. Delete the file shared.xml (it will be recreated once you open Skype again, this is fine).
4. Start Skype.

Please note that the ~ sign means your home folder. You can find your home folder by opening Finder and selecting Go > Home from the menu bar or pressing Command (Apple), Shift and H keys at the same time.

It always sad to see people pull out their wooden shoes when faced with changes in technology and society, but you will see just that in the video below.

It’s simple: Because everyone can download books and newspapers, everyone who works at bookstores (Rep Jackson notes Borders going out of business) or the publishing industry, or for textbooks, will lose their jobs to the people making iPads in China.

Obviously he ignores all the wealth the iPad has created in America, and the fact that there are all kinds of other jobs that have been created around the iPad.

The world is about change and it is only going to get faster as time goes by. Every single technological innovation in the world has had a similar dynamic. Old style jobs and businesses going away, while new firms and jobs come into play. My suggestion to Rep Jackson: please read the following link and learn the history of the word Sabotage.

His kind of politics telling people that we can stop the march of technology to save jobs, that are no longer needed, is an act of Sabotage on American and to the people he is lying to.

Nintendo’s 3DS lets you connect with other players around the world via a system called Friend Codes. Exchange friend codes on the Wii is a big pain in the backside, Nintendo simplified the process for its new handheld.

What is a Friend code

A Friend Code is a 12-digit number unique to each 3DS system. You can have up to 100 friends to your 3DS.

To Find Your Friend Code

Turn on your 3DS

tap the Friend List icon -orange smiley face located at the top of the Home Menu

From there, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Friend Card

What is a Friend Card

A Friend Card is the profile that your friends will see when they add you to their friend lists. It contains your name, your Mii, favorite game and finally, your Friend Code.

How to Create Your Friends List

From the Friend List menu, tap “Register Friend” on the top right corner of the screen. Here, you have two options: Local and Internet.

Local lets you add friends offline within range of your 3DS’ Wi-Fi signal. You don’t need to enter Friend Codes. Just scan the area, then tap the Friend Card of the person you want to add. If you both tap each others cards, you’ll exchange the need info and become friends.

Internet With this option, you’ll need the person’s Friend Code. This means they’ll need to give it to you in some fashion such as e-mail or over the phone. Then, tap the numerical pad to enter it. you will also need to give them your Friend Code as well.
