Abrams’ Human Pilot" href="http://www.takesontech.com/minka-kelly-to-play-a-cop-in-j-j-abrams-human-pilot" target="_blank">Minka Kelly (“Friday Night Lights”), Julian McMahon (“Nip/Tuck”), David Boreanaz (“Bones”), Keke Palmer (“Akeelah and the Bee”), Devon Gearhart (“The Wait”), Billy Campbell (“The Killing”), Kate Walsh (“Private Practice”), Noah Silver (The Borgias”), Ally Sheedy (“Welcome to the Rileys”), Cheyenne Jackson (“Behind the Candelabra”), and Robin Weigert (“Sons of Anarchy”).

The 10-episode series will examine the human condition and relationships through a series of conversations between 11 people whose lives, unbeknownst to them, are intertwined. Each episode will take place in a restaurant and features a conversation between two characters, with one of the character’s story lines carrying over into the next episode through a conversation with a new character and that character then being featured in the following episode. The process continues until the finale episode.

Characters passing the torch from one episode to the next include Tim (Felton) an exchange student from England and his love interest Bridgette (Kelly); Bridgette’s husband Stanley (McMahon), a charismatic and intense entertainment lawyer; Stanley’s client Jace (Boreanaz), a famous comic known for his outlandish behavior; Chan’dra (Palmer), whose life was irrevocably altered as a result of a joke that Jace took too far; Cliff (Gearhart), a classmate Chan’dra secretly has a crush on; Cliff’s father Trent (Campbell) and his wife Trisha (Walsh); Peter (Jackson), an aspiring singer who intrudes on a special night between Trent and Trisha; Robbie (Silver), Trisha’s student who purports an unusual connection to his teacher, and his mother Celeste (Sheedy), with whom he shares an unnerving bond. The final episode brings the characters together, with the unexpected addition of one (Weigert), for an explosive ending that is sure to change all of these characters lives irreparably

“Full Circle” is set to air on DirecTV’s Audience channel in fall 2013.

The network did not give a specific reason for the series’ end. New episodes of the show will air, starting on Thursday, June 13, but these will be the final five installments of the show.

Both applauded and criticized throughout its run, “Intervention” focuses on the many costs — social as well as economic — of drug addiction, alcoholism and other compulsive behaviors. Each episode follows an addict through his or her daily life, showing the ways in which everything is falling apart. Before the end of the episode, family and friends of the addict stage a surprise intervention with the help of one of the show’s resident specialists.

Although “Intervention” won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series in 2009, critics have argued that the show is exploitative and overly simplifies the recovery process. Additionally, worries have arisen about addicts who relapse or die as a result of their addictions — four of those profiled have since died as a result of their addictions. Those who approve of the show point out that this is a small percentage of a high-risk group.

With production on the third season getting underway on Wednesday, Homeland is adding a slew of guest stars to a cast that saw more than a few character casualties during its last few episodes

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that David Aaron Baker is set to play Dr. Harlan, an assessment shrink who’ll likely be meeting with Saul (Mandy Patinkin), Carrie (Claire Danes) and the countless other C.I.A. survivors of the deadly blast that rocked the December finale.

Baker, whose recent TV credits include The Big C, The Following and a six-episode stint on Boardwalk Empire, joins the following confirmed guest stars to the Showtime series:

Joanna Merlin (Law & Order: SVU) as Grandma Lois, Jessica Brody’s mother

Nazanin Boniadi (How I Met Your Mother) as Fara, a capable analyst despite her young appearance

Amy Morton (Boss) as Carrie Mathison’s CIA appointed attorney Erin Kimball

Gary Wilmes (Louie) as Dr. Richardson, a psychiatrist helping Dana Brody cope with recent events

Sam Underwood (The Last Keepers) as Leo, a new friend of Dana’s with a troubled past

Tracy Letts (Prison Break) as Senator Andrew Lockhart, the committee chairman investigating the attack

Lawrence Clayton (Dreamgirls, The Big C) as Admiral Jim Pennington, the president’s national security advisor

Pedro Pascal (Graceland) as Majority Counsel David Portillo, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence

Homeland, the Emmy-winning Fox 21 production, returns in the immediate aftermath of the bombing at Vice President Walden’s funeral, with outed (and framed) terrorist Nick Brody (Damian Lewis) dubbed “the world’s most wanted terrorist.”

In addition to the many guests, Homeland recently upped two to regular status. Both F. Murray Abraham and Sarita Choudhury will be more prominently featured when the series returns on Sept. 29.

“We received your feedback about tonight’s Jessie episode which some of you accessed early on Video-on-Demand,” the kiddie cabler said via a Facebook statement posted Friday. “We are removing this particular episode from our regular programming schedule and will re-evaluate its references to gluten restrictions in the character’s diet. Please accept our apologies for the upset this episode caused you and your family.”

The episode “Quitting Cold Koala,” which was to premiere last Friday, finds Debby Ryan’s titular nanny tasked with minding Zuri’s frenemy Stuart (played by J.J. Totah), who follows a gluten-free diet. Upon learning the food restrictions that come with his condition, jokes are made, one of which involved pancakes being tossed at Stuart while he screams, “Gluten!”

Disney Channel’s apology was partly in response to a petition posted to Change.org, which stated that Stuart was portrayed as “annoying, sniveling and demanding, repeatedly teased and excluded by the other children.” The complaint asked the cabler to “stop using gluten-intolerance as an excuse to bully children with any disease, disorder or disability.”

All Netflixerswill be able to watch the show, except for viewers in the U.K. The show already aired on Channel 4 there and was recently renewed for a second season, so don’t worry.

David Earl, Karl Pilkington and Kerry Godliman star in Derek, along with Gervais. Derek is produced by Derek Productions Ltd. for Netflix.

Derek is a bittersweet comedy-drama about a group of outsiders living on society’s margins. The show centers around Derek Noakes (Gervais), a tender, innocent man whose love for his job at a retirement home shines through.

Working alongside Derek is Dougie (Pilkington), his landlord who is one of life’s unlucky individuals; Kev (Earl), a loveable train wreck; and Hannah (Godliman), a care worker in the home and Derek’s best friend. She is smart, witty and hard-working, but unlucky in love, and, like Derek, always puts other people first.

EW has broken the story that Star Wars Rebels, a one-hour animated pilot already in production at Lucasfilm, is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2014 on the Disney Channel before the new brand leaps to Disney XD for the ongoing series, according to Lucasfilm sources.

The series will mine material in the 19 years that follow Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and precedes the Episode IV: A New Hope. In other words, using the life of the Skywalker twins as a measure, the series will be active in the story years that come after their separation as newborns and before their (unwitting) reunion on the prison level of the Death Star.

No word on whether the show will feature Darth Vader (who would be in the Empire’s power consolidation years and earning his reputation) or even pull in a character like Han Solo, the smuggler and cynic who becomes an unlikely freedom fighter when he opts to stand by his friends against cosmic odds.

The series has three executive producers: Dave Filoni, the point man on The Clone Wars animated series that launched in 2008; screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg, whose has a flair for tonal rewiring and energizing familiar brands with new edge (e.g.:X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes); and Greg Weisman, whose credits include well-regarded work on Young Justice and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Check out the announcement video below!

Returning cast members, however, will likely not be revealed until after the show’s 50th anniversary special, set to air November 23.

“[T]hat’s when the TARDIS returns in the frankly Earth-shattering adventure that celebrates half a century of Doctor Who,” the official synopsis reads. “This 3D special stars Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman with David Tennant and John Hurt, seen briefly at the end of ‘The Name of the Doctor’. Billie Piper returns alongside Jemma Redgrave, Joanna Page… and the Zygons!”

The network also confirmed that, prior the 2014 episodes (marking the eighth modern season), a Christmas special will also arrive in December of this year. That’s in addition to the new “An Adventure in Space and Time” series that dramatizes the real-life creation of everyone’s favorite Timelord.

The show which has been popular for four seasons, and has been credited with bringing women to the channel, is getting the same shoddy send off that Eureka! got for it’s last season. The official word from Syfy is:

“Warehouse 13 has been an incredible signature series for us,” said Mark Stern, Syfy’s President, Original Content, in a statement. “We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season.”

The drama follows a team of government agents who work at a massive, top-secret storage facility in South Dakota, which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and preternatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government.

Most are working together to solve the mystery of their existence.

EW has a sneak peak of this week’s upcoming episode with the following that let’s us know things are about to get steamy for Cosima:

“Cosima was drawn to Delphine from the instant they met — but once Paul’s true motives were revealed, all the girls have been extra wary of anyone with a different face. Despite that, Cosima refused to take Beth’s advice in last week’s episode and went in for a kiss. Sadly Delphine didn’t reciprocate.

Oh what a difference a week makes! In Saturday’s all new episode of Orphan Black, Delphine reveals a much (much!) more open attitude towards her sexuality…”

This seemed like a death sentence for the series to many, but EW is reporting that The CW President Mark Pedowitz says the series is still very much alive and in development.

“It’s being redeveloped. We don’t want to produce something that doesn’t do the franchise justice. It’s the trickiest of all the DC characters.”

Development on the pilot is no doubt in a similar state than it was a few months ago where the network was actively casting for the role of Diana with writer Allan Heinberg working on a script. It has been said before that should the project come together later this year, that an “off season” pilot could be ordered for the project with an eye toward a spring 2014 premiere.

The Comedies:

WE ARE MEN is a single-camera comedy about four single guys living in a short-term apartment complex who unexpectedly find camaraderie over their many missteps in love. Carter (Chris Smith), the youngest and most recent addition to the group, moved in after being ditched at the altar mid-ceremony, and is now eager to re-enter the dating scene and get on with his life with some guidance from his “band of brothers”: Frank Russo (Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Award winner Tony Shalhoub), a successful middle-aged clothing manufacturer and four-time divorce who still fancies himself a ladies man; Gil Bartis (Kal Penn), a small business owner who was caught having the world’s worst affair; and Stuart Strickland (Jerry O’Connell), a speedo-wearing OB/GYN who’s hiding his assets until his second divorce is settled. Jill (Rebecca Breeds) is Frank’s charming and attractive daughter, who stands as the one positive remnant from his failed relationships. Armed with a hot tub, pool-side barbeque and plenty of questionable advice, these losers in the marriage department take Carter under their wing to impart their own brand of wisdom about the opposite sex. Emmy Award winner Rob Greenberg, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Rob Greenberg directed the pilot.

MOM is a comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre starring Anna Faris as a newly sober single mom raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney as her critical, estranged mother. Christy (Faris) is a waitress at a posh Napa Valley establishment who is four months clean and doing her best to be a good mom and overcome a history of questionable choices. Her sobriety is tested when Bonnie (Janney), her recovering alcoholic mom, reappears chock-full of passive-aggressive insights into Christy’s many mistakes. Bonnie joins Christy’s already complicated circle of relationships: her handsome, married boss – and lover – Gabriel (Nate Corddry); the restaurant’s hot-tempered chef, Rudy (French Stewart); her pretty, 16-going-on-25-year-old daughter, Violet (Sadie Calvano); her sweet but overly honest son, Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal); her irresponsible ex-husband and Roscoe’s father, Baxter (Matt Jones); and Violet’s clueless boyfriend, Luke (Spencer Daniels). Christy tries to remain positive as she pursues her new path in life, but she faces an uphill battle, surrounded by a dubious support system – and a copious amount of dysfunction. Chuck Lorre and Eddie Gorodetsky (“Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory”) are executive producers for Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Pamela Fryman directed the pilot. Gemma Baker co-wrote the pilot with Lorre and Gorodetsky.

THE MILLERS stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles’ life until his parents’ marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans. After Nathan finally breaks the news of his divorce to his parents, Carol (Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale) and Tom (Emmy Award winner Beau Bridges), his father is inspired to follow suit and stuns the family when he leaves his wife of 43 years. Already in shock, Jack is even more aghast when his meddlesome mom decides to move in with him. Meanwhile, his absent-minded dad imposes upon Nathan’s sister, Debbie, her husband Adam and their daughter Mykayla (Eve Moon). Nathan’s best friend and news cameraman, Ray (JB Smoove), was excited to be Nathan’s wingman in the dating scene, but Carol manages to even cramp his style. Now, as Nathan and his sister settle in with their truly impossible parents, they both wonder just how long the aggravating adjustment period is going to last. Greg Garcia (“Raising Hope” and “My Name is Earl”) is the executive producer of THE MILLERS for CBS Television Studios. Emmy Award winner James Burrows directed the pilot.

Academy Award winner Robin Williams returns to series television in THE CRAZY ONES, a single-camera workplace comedy about a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired… if he weren’t the boss. Simon Roberts (Williams) is the head of a powerful agency, with the biggest clients and brands in the world, but even more important to him is that his daughter Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is by his side. As his partner, Sydney is Simon’s exact opposite – focused, organized and eager to make a name for herself, but also too busy parenting her father, which she’d resent if he wasn’t so brilliant at what he does. Joining them in the firm are the dashing and talented Zach (James Wolk); art director Andrew (Hamish Linklater), who’s as hard-working as he is neurotic; and the beautiful and deceptively smart assistant Lauren (Amanda Setton). With his team and his daughter behind him, Simon continues to set the advertising world on fire, and it looks like they are definitely buying what these crazy ones are selling. Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner David E. Kelley (“Ally McBeal” and “The Practice”), Bill D’Elia, Emmy Award winner Jason Winer (“Modern Family”), Dean Lorey, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television. Jason Winer directed the pilot.

The Drama:

HOSTAGES, from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is a high-octane suspense drama starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette as a premiere surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott). Dr. Ellen Sanders (Collette) and her family are held captive in their home by Carlisle, a desperate man doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, who orders her to assassinate the President (James Naughton) when she operates on him. His highly skilled accomplices include his brother-in-law Kramer (Rhys Coiro), whose loyalty to Carlisle will be tested; quick-tempered and intimidating Archer (Billy Brown), an ex-military man with a razor-sharp tongue; and the only woman involved, Sandrine (Sandrine Holt), a mysterious last-minute replacement to the team. With her family’s life in peril, Ellen faces an incomprehensible moral dilemma in order to save her overbearing husband Brian (Tate Donovan), her secretive daughter Morgan (Quinn Shephard) and her not-so-innocent son Jake (Mateus Ward). In this high-stakes standoff between Ellen and Carlisle, fraught with tremendous national and personal consequences, the choices between right and wrong become even more blurred. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Rick Eid, Omri Givon, Rotem Shamir and Chayim Sharir are executive producers for Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Mid-Season:

INTELLIGENCE is a dramatic thriller starring Josh Holloway as a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With this implant, Gabriel (Holloway) is the first human ever to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data. He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies. Leading the elite government cyber-security agency created to support him is Director Lillian Strand (Marg Helgenberger), a straightforward and efficient boss who oversees the unit’s missions. Strand assigns Riley Neal (Meghan Ory), a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats, as well as from his appetite for reckless, unpredictable behavior and disregard for protocol. Other skilled members of the Cybercom team include Chris Jameson (Michael Rady) and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Rodriguez (James Martinez), two resourceful federal investigators. The brains behind the design of the chip is Dr. Shenendoah Cassidy (John Billingsley), whose son, Nelson (PJ Byrne), is jealous of Gabriel’s prominent place in his father’s life. As the first supercomputer with a beating heart, Gabriel is the most valuable piece of technology the country has ever created and is the U.S.’s secret weapon. Michael Seitzman, Ren Echevarria, Tripp Vinson, and David Semel (for pilot) are executive producers for ABC Television Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.

RECKLESS is a sultry legal drama set in Charleston, S.C., where a gorgeous Yankee litigator and a charming Southern attorney must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex scandal threatens to tear the city apart. Jamie Sawyer (Anna Wood) is enviously cool, confident and armed with south-side-of-Chicago street-smarts as she takes on the good ol’ boys in the South. Her handsome courtroom rival, Roy Rayder (Cam Gigandet), a divorced father of two, embodies the Old South and is the newly minted City Attorney, thanks to his influential former father-in-law, Dec Fortnum (Gregory Harrison). When disgraced cop Lee Anne Marcus (Georgina Haig) hires Jamie to represent her in a lawsuit against the police department, Jamie and Roy discover that Lee Anne is at the epicenter of a sinister case with dire implications for the members of the Charleston P.D. Heading that department is Deputy Chief Holland Knox (Michael Gladis), a family man who radiates integrity. Working under him are Terry McCandless (Shawn Hatosy), a cocky and corrupt detective, and Preston Cruz (Adam Rodriguez), Jamie’s well-respected boyfriend who might not be all that he appears. Helping Jamie is her confidante and paralegal, Vi (Kim Wayans), an expert at digging up case-winning information. As Jamie and Roy spar in and out of the courtroom, dark secrets simmer behind every door and threaten to tarnish the genteel facade of seductive Charleston. Ian Sander, Kim Moses, Dana Stevens, Corey Miller and Catherine Hardwicke are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) directed the pilot.

FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES is a romantic comedy about six friends at different stages in their lives – married, divorced, newly engaged and single – who are outwardly happy, but secretly questioning if their friends have it better. Andi (Majandra Delfino) and Bobby (Kevin Connolly) are happily married with two kids but at times long for the days they had less responsibility and more fun; Will (James Van Der Beek) is newly single and preaching the bachelor lifestyle, but still pining for his ex-wife; Jules (Brooklyn Decker) and Lowell (Rick Donald) are high on their passionate new relationship; and Kate (Zoe Lister Jones) has a successful career but may take a swan dive into the L.A. River when she finds out her last remaining single friend, Jules, just got engaged. When it comes to relationships, these six friends are finding it a challenge to look at each other without wondering… who really has the better life? As hard as Terry tries to keep Danny away from the sports-driven lifestyle of her youth, Tommy wants to play Little League. His stunning lack of baseball skills (he doesn’t even know which hand the mitt goes on) makes him the laughing stock of the baseball field and of his grandfather’s living room.
“THE GOLDBERGS”

Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ’80s. For geeky 11-year-old Adam (Sean Giambrone) these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other, just with a lot more yelling. Mom Beverly (Wendi McClendon-Covey) is a classic “smother,” an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries.

We’ve made it to the end of another year with Castle, ABC’s Monday night anchor drama. As the show’s fifth season draws to a close, the evolving relationship at the show’s center between author Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic),(also known as Caskett in couple speak) is on the verge of going to a whole other level. They started five years ago as friendly adversaries when Castle charmed his way into the station by calling in a favor from the city’s mayor, much to the annoyance of the hard-boiled,street savvy (and much less glamorous) Kate.

Over time they adapted from clashing over cases to collaborating, each one enhancing the strengths of the other. Rick’s wild imagination generates possible back stories and conspiracy theories that help inspire the always practical Kate to find the motives that solve the cases. They’ve gotten each other out of tight spots and eventually, after some fits and spurts and stalled out relationships, this season, Caskett became a romantic couple.

The show’s creator’s have promised that Caskett are in for some bumps on their road as a couple, and just when it seemed they were finally getting into a grove, after having several awkward months of dodging family, friends and coworkers about the truth of their romance, then along comes a new wrinkle. In a prior episode, the team worked with a Federal agent from a special task force appointed by the US Attorney General to solve a murder of a whistle blower who was killed in a precision military strike. Kate’s investigative know-how gets the attention of the G-man and she gets an invite to try out for the big leagues.

In the opening scenes Kate has what has got to be the world shortest and most uplifting job interview, it went something like this:

G-man Boss Guy: “Well Dectective Beckett, we hear you are are great!”

Kate: “Aw shucks sir, I’m just an ordinary homicide cop”

G-man Boss Guy: “Are you sure about that Dectective? I think we both know that you are awesome and that being part of this elite team is your DESTINY”

Kate: “Um..shucks…I guess you are right…”

Beckett flies back, quickly stopping to change out of her interview suit, and breathlessly joins the rest of the team to solve the murder of a girl who found in the roof cistern of a seedy hotel. Most of her neighbors think she is a prostitute, but after checking into her background and finding she is an Ivy League student with no history of past trouble, Castle and Beckett figure there is more to the story.

Interviews are conducted, theories are proposed and then disproven. All in all, a fairly typical case for Rick and Kate and friends, but we see a difference in Kate as she is going through the mechanics of the case. She looks at Castle a bit differently, and he and her co-workers begin to notice. In the background everyone wonders “What’s up with Beckett?”

Eventually she gets called into the Principal’s…no wait, that the Captain’s office and finds out that the Captain has gotten a call from the Feds, and she has given Kate the best.recommendation.ever. They then have a girl power bonding moment and talk about what a great opportunity this is for Kate to follower DESTINY.

More stuff about the case (this one is almost dull compared to most of the murders we see on Castle) and we see Kate ad Rick fixing dinner. He moves her coat and what should fall out but an airline ticket stub, always use an e-ticket when you are being sneaky Kate! Well Castle finds out about the interview and is immediately peeved that she lied. They conclude that there is no way that they could make it work if she goes to DC. I got a bit perplexed at this point as to what the big deal is.

Castle after all is extremely wealthy, he has a ginormous Manhattan loft, an big Hamptons beach house and den a Ferrari, so why would picking up a pied -a terre in the nation’s capitol even cause him to blink an eye? But I understand that we need some couple drama so I went with the premise. Conversations occur, Rick and his mom, also Kate and Lainey, and even Espo and Ryan who ask themselves “Is she pregnant?”

Finally, DESTINY calls…on the phone and Kate gets her job offer. She tells Castle that they have to talk. Cut to some playground swings where Castle is waiting and Kate pensively arrives. He knows what she has to say, so he steps tells her that whatever she decides they both deserve more that their currently cloudy relationship, she agrees and then…is it their last kiss? Rick pulls a ring from his pocket and asks Kate to become Mrs. Castle. Caskett fans hold on to your hats, the ride is just starting.
