“We received your feedback about tonight’s Jessie episode which some of you accessed early on Video-on-Demand,” the kiddie cabler said via a Facebook statement posted Friday. “We are removing this particular episode from our regular programming schedule and will re-evaluate its references to gluten restrictions in the character’s diet. Please accept our apologies for the upset this episode caused you and your family.”

The episode “Quitting Cold Koala,” which was to premiere last Friday, finds Debby Ryan’s titular nanny tasked with minding Zuri’s frenemy Stuart (played by J.J. Totah), who follows a gluten-free diet. Upon learning the food restrictions that come with his condition, jokes are made, one of which involved pancakes being tossed at Stuart while he screams, “Gluten!”

Disney Channel’s apology was partly in response to a petition posted to Change.org, which stated that Stuart was portrayed as “annoying, sniveling and demanding, repeatedly teased and excluded by the other children.” The complaint asked the cabler to “stop using gluten-intolerance as an excuse to bully children with any disease, disorder or disability.”

Over a month ago, the viral marketing for Man of Steel started to ramp back up with a message from Michael Shannon’s character, General Zod. The original video was a message for the people of Earth and for Superman himself, Kal-El.

Now, the messages have returned and are appearing in different languages when users visit the official Man of Steel website. The last time these messages presented themselves, a new trailer for the film followed only two days later. A new trailer for Man of Steel trailer has been confirmed by Deluxe and is expected to launch sometime this week and will likely premiere in theaters with The Hangover Part III this weekend.

Derek is a bittersweet comedy-drama about a group of outsiders living on society’s margins. The show centers around Derek Noakes (Gervais), a tender, innocent man whose love for his job at a retirement home shines through.

Working alongside Derek is Dougie (Pilkington), his landlord who is one of life’s unlucky individuals; Kev (Earl), a loveable train wreck; and Hannah (Godliman), a care worker in the home and Derek’s best friend. She is smart, witty and hard-working, but unlucky in love, and, like Derek, always puts other people first.

Walt Disney Pictures has released the new trailer for The Lone Ranger, opening in theaters on July 3.

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ The Lone Ranger, a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

The film, which adapts Gotti’s life from the point of view of his son, was previously set to star, in addition to Travolta and Preston, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan, Ben Foster and Chazz Palminteri. Barry Levinson was previously attached to helm that earlier iteration of the project, which was to have been titled Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father.

The rights to the story, which, in reality ended with the death of Gotti in prison in 2002, are held by Marc Fiore and his Fiore Films where actor Leo Rossi supplied the original screenplay.

Hopkins, who recently played the title role in the biopic Hitchcock, can next be seen in two comic book adaptations. He joins the ensemble cast of RED 2 in the July 19 release and reprises his role as Odin in Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World, which hits theaters November 8.

“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of ‘Mike & Molly,’ which has a related storyline,” a CBS spokeswoman said to TheWrap. “A repeat broadcast of ‘Mike & Molly’ will run in the time period. The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date.”

The episode titled “Windy City” placed its main characters Mike and Molly (Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy, respectively) in a tornado that hits Chicago.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s di Bonaventura Pictures and CJ Entertainent have teamed with Silver Reel and Lotus Entertainment for the English language remake with Broken City writer Brian Tucker on script-writing duties. Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce with Claudia Bluemhuber. Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, Jacob Pechenik and Gero Bauknecht are executive producers. Other producers include D.J. Gugenheim, Ed Fee, CJ’s Miky Lee and Joon Choi, Jiwon Park and Min Young Hong, so there should be lots of chefs making sure this one cooks up just right.

The original story involves a poor deaf mute man who tries to come up with money for his sister’s operation who gets ripped off, but according to the Deadline story, this one “centers on two men who are bound by their common sense of loss and headed on a collision course of revenge.”

Gudegast, a 360 client also represented by WME, will also write and direct the bank heist drama Den of Thieves for Relativity.

Relativity’s Jason Barhydt will oversee the project for the studio with Emjag Productions’ Alexandra Milchan and Film 360’s Scott Lambert and Guymon Casady producing the film alongside Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Antonio Moura Santos Jr. will executive produce.

Additionally, veteran producer Catherine Winder is joining the production team that includes producer John Cohen (Despicable Me) and executive producer David Maisel (Iron Man) . The movie is slated for a July 1, 2016 release and will to be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures.

Vitti won an Emmy Award for his work as writer-consulting producer on “King of the Hill.” He was also a writer for “Saturday Night Live,” writer-producer on “The Simpsons,” writer-co-executive producer on “The Larry Sanders Show,” and writer-consulting producer on “The Office,” among many other programs. Jon also shared a writing credit on the feature films The Simpsons Movie and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Catherine Winder is another addition to the team working on the Angry Birds movie, joining as a producer. Winder was formerly the president of Rainmaker Entertainment in Vancouver, and also oversaw set-up, production and development at Lucasfilm Animation and served as Senior VP of Production at Twentieth Century Fox Animation where she re-structured Blue Sky Studios and oversaw the production of the original Ice Age.

Commenting on the announcement, Rovio Entertainment CEO Mikael Hed said, “I’m very excited that Jon and Catherine have joined us, bringing with them their vast expertise. I’m confident we are building the right team to deliver an amazing movie experience to our fans.”

John Cohen said, “I’m thrilled to have Jon and Catherine joining the project. Jon is one of the funniest writers I know, and we’re looking forward to working with him to bring the birds and pigs to life on the big screen. The first Star Trek of the Abrams era opened in early May of 2009 and made an impressive $75.2 million on its first weekend out of the gates, without the benefit of 3-D surcharges. This newest film is showing in 336 IMAX 3-D theaters, whereas the first showed in 138 IMAX venues — accounting for $8.5 million in ticket sales on its first weekend. As we wrote about yesterday, the nature of Abrams’ four different directing projects makes him difficult to analyze in terms of pure box office numbers, so his Star Trek successes and potential will have to stand on its own. The first film stayed in theaters for 21 weeks, ultimately grossing $257.7 million for Paramount.

Iron Man 3 continues to do well at the box office in spite of the new competition from Star Trek Into Darkness, making an estimated $35.2 million in its third weekend in theaters. This brings its domestic total to $337.1 million.
