The BrightLink Pro turns a traditional whiteboard, wall or virtually any flat surface into a new digital surface and offers a variety of features to boost meeting room collaboration, including video conferencing compatibility and remote collaboration.

Users can power BrightLink Pro on and present, annotate and capture with no technical expertise needed to drive a collaborative instant meeting. With a 100-inch, widescreen display area, users can display presentations and a live meeting at the same time with the split screen option. In addition, users can connect up to four BrightLink Pro units that all reside on the same network, regardless of location, for remote collaboration.

The BrightLink Pro comes with a control pad, which acts as a convenient USB hub, an extension to USB ports or as a remote control unit. Meeting participants can use the control pad to connect to USB thumb drive, a PC or printer. To further streamline meetings, it also offers buttons to power the BrightLink Pro on and off, and to select major functions, including Whiteboard Mode, Source Search, Capture, Print, or Save.

The Epson BrightLink 1410Wi projector will be available in April through resellers starting at $2,999. Epson’s projectors come with a two-year limited warranty that includes Epson PrivateLine phone support and a two-year projector replacement program.

The VS220 and VS320 offer SVGA and XGA resolution (respectively), and deliver 2,700 lumens of white and color brightness with HDMI connectivity for audio and video using only one cable.

The VS220 and VS320 also offer USB Plug ‘n Play to project video and audio from a PC or Mac computer, as well as automatic vertical keystone correction for easy image alignment and fast setup. The VS320 offers a horizontal easy-slide control bar for image correction, allowing for a rectangular image from any angle, as well as an A/V Mute control which stops the sound and picture to allow for a quick pause in the presentation.

Both new Epson projectors feature 3LCD, three-chip technology to deliver an energy-efficient light engine which uses available lamp light for projection. When compared to one-chip DLP technology, 3LCD requires (on average) 25 percent less electricity per lumen of brightness.

The Epson VS220 and VS320 are currently available through national resellers, mail order and distribution. The VS220 retails for $359, and the VS320 is available for $429.

Acer’s first 1080P LED-laser hybrid projector has seen its debut. Unlike previous releases, the K750 uses both LED and laser light sources for an extended light-source lifetime that is said to reach 20,000 hours in ExtremeECO mode, along with claimed power savings of 90 percent, a 55 percent improvement in color saturation, and elimination of hazardous substances such as mercury and halogen gases.

The light-source technology allows for more flexible color settings and a wider color gamut, allowing up to 85 percent better NTSC color saturation. Brightness is said to reach 1,500 lumens while the contrast ratio hits 100,000:1. A D-Sub and HDMI port for source video is also joined by another HDMI connection for output to other presentation equipment. Instant turn-on and turn-off eliminates the cool-down period usually seen in projectors after use.

Official release dates and general global pricing have not been revealed as of yet, although the company has confirmed a £1,699 ($2,650) price tag in the UK.

Small enough to fit on a keychain, the Virtual Keyboard can connect to portable devices using Bluetooth, and projects a 72-key keyboard using its built-in laser. The Lithium-ion battery is claimed to last more than two hours, and is rechargable by micro USB.

The HDMI Pocket Projector uses an 85-lumen LED light source to display a 1080p image up to 60-inches in size. Two one-watt speakers plays the accompanying audio, both through the HDMI connection and a standard headphone socket. The 3500mAh battery lasts for two hours, and also allows for 5V USB charging of accompanying devices.

The projector will be on sale from July 1 for $300, and the Virtual Keyboard for $100 in August.

The design is intended for small- and medium-sized classrooms and businesses, and sports 3,000 lumens brightness. The native resolution is 1024×768, and a captioning decoder is built-in.

Because of its target audience, the projector is easy to set up. A USB port provides quick presentations from computer sources. There is also an HDMI input and two VGA inputs. A monitor output and an audio output also exist, along with an Ethernet port.

Off-center mounting surfaces are addressed thanks to 30-degree horizontal keystone range and automatic vertical keystone correction. The lamp is rated at 5,000 hours in economy mode. A single 2W speaker is built-in, and Epson includes a wireless remote.

The X15 replaces the PowerLite 92 in Epson’s line-up and is due to arrive in May. It comes priced at $600.

Both have a built-in dock for accommodating an iPod, iPhone or iPad and throwing images or videos contained on any of them. The high-brightness projector also has integrated speakers. Other smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles as well as computers can be connected as well.

The 3LCD projectors differ in that the MG-850HD offers a 720p resolution and 2,800 lumens of brightness while the MG-50 has a 540p resolution and 2,200 lumens. They can also be used as speaker docks for the iOS devices, outputting sound through their 10W stereo speakers. Users can choose from four audio modes for playback, while a microphone input lets owners use the projector like a megaphone.

A USB port allows PC-free operation and speeds up connections to either a PC or Mac. An HDMI and a VGA input round out the inputs.

Both ship later this month, with the MegaPlex MG-850HD priced at $800 and the MegaPlex MG-50 at $700.

Epson will be bringing a new line of 2D/3D “Full HD” home theater projectors and one new model of pro cinema projector to dealers and outlets in October and November. The units feature extremely high refresh rates and 2,400 lumen brightness to help combat the main complaint with 3D television: lowered brightness and picture quality. The units can also “split the screen” allowing for two inputs (i.e. TV and computer) to be used at the same time.

The Pro Cinema 6010 and the Home Cinema 5010 (also available in a wireless version – the Home Cinema 5010e) both feature contrast ratios up to 200,000:1 and excellent black levels. The two models also feature FineFrame smoothing technology, sharper video in 2D mode and a “cinema” feature for a larger color space and greater color fidelity. The Pro Cinema model adds two anamorphic lens modes, two pairs of 3D glasses and a ceiling mount, cable cover and extra lamp for more installation flexibility.

The Home Cinema 3010/3010e offers up to 2,200 lumens of color and up to 40,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as two built-in 10-watt speakers. It also includes two pairs of 3D glasses. All models offer “split-screen” mode in 2D that accepts two inputs and projects them simultaneously.

All the units feature up to 6,000 hours of lamp life, two HDMI inputs as well as component and composite video, VGA and USB video connections as well as RCA audio connections. The Pro Cinema 6010 is expected to retail for $4,000, while the Home Cinema 5010 and 5010e will sell for $3,000 and $3,500 respectively. The Home Cinema 3010 and 3010e will be priced at $1,600 and $1,800 respectively.

The Home Cinema 3010 models will be available in October with a two-year limited warranty and a 90-day bulb replacement guarantee. The Home Cinema 5010 models will follow in November with the same warranty, while the Pro Cinema 6010 (also available in November) will carry a three-year warranty.

Home theater viewers received three new choices from Sony at the IFA show. The SMP-N200 Network Media Player updates Sony’s early digital-only box and adds support for both 3D and HD video streaming as well as a new ‘concave’ design. It primarily taps into Sony’s own music and video services, but it can take media from DLNA-equipped devices on the local network and supports the ‘throw’ sharing from the Tablet S.

Most access comes over Wi-Fi, although it can play content locally from a USB drive. Socially included users can update Facebook or Twitter, and those with Android or iOS devices can steer it more quickly than with the bundled remote through a native app.

The VPL-VW95ES replaces Sony’s very highest-end projector, the VW90ES. Its performance is close to the earlier model, but it can now convert footage to 3D and has the transmitter for active shutter glasses built-in instead of needing a breakout device. Viewers can also program the lens to automatically move and otherwise adjust itself when different aspect ratios come into play.

Blu-ray players get a new entry model in the BDP-S185. Along with a very compact design that has a less traditional silver color option along with black, its chief upgrade is power. Its newer processing hardware drops the power draw by 47 percent, down to just 10W. Shipping the player takes 40 percent fewer carbon emissions because of the smaller profile, Sony said. As an actual player, it supports the full current Blu-ray spec, including BD-Live online. Just one HDMI out and one USB port provide its core expansion, but it does support Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio for sound decoding.

All three are due to ship in October for Europe, but prices have not been disclosed.

All three identical-looking models weigh in at 5.1 pounds each, making them lightweight and travel-friendly, and deliver 2,600 lumens of light output. In addition, all three can use USB connections from Mac or Windows computers to carry audio and video rather than DVI or HDMI.

The models all also feature Direct Power On and Off for ceiling-mounted units that need to be powered on by a wall switch, and Instant On/Off with no warm-up or cool-down period required. All models also use the three-chip 3LCD technology for energy-efficient but reliable imaging, using 25 percent less power on average than the previous 1-chip DLP technology. They all offer VGA, S-Video and composite video and audio as well as the USB connection.

Epson has announced two forthcoming additions to their Powerlite lineup of projectors for small and medium-sized businesses, the PowerLite 1221 with a native resolution of 1024×768 and the PowerLite 1261W with 1280×768 native resolution. Both projectors feature 2800 lumens of color and white light output and the ability to accept input from either Mac or Windows computers via USB or HDMI in addition to the other usual methods, including S-Video, composite and VGA connector.

The two models, which will be available for sale in September, are distinguished primarily by their resolution differences and the 16:10 aspect ratio of the PowerLite 1261W, designed to take full advantage of widescreen notebooks. Both machines offer automatic vertical keystone and an innovative and intuitive slider for horizontal keystone, and both use Epson’s extended-life lamps with up to 5,000 hours of expected life.

Installed units of either model can use the Direct Power On and Off mode, which allows the projector to be powered via a wall switch, turning on instantly and allowing presentations to begin in as little as five seconds. The units also feature a “A/V Mute” option where both sound and images can be temporarily paused. The models sport Epson’s three-chip LCD technology, allowing more efficient lamp use with more true-to-life color that uses 25 percent less energy than traditional one-chip DLP technology.

The Epson PowerLite 1221 and 1261W are compact and lightweight enough to include a carrying case, will be available in September, and retail for $549 and $649 respectively.

The projector will be unveiled June 7-9 at the Electronic Entertainment Industry (E3) Expo, with availability scheduled for August at a price of $799.

“This is a milestone product for Optoma and a direct response to 3D gaming enthusiasts who want to take advantage of the newest technologies,” said Jon Grodem, Optoma’s senior director of product & marketing. “And as more 3D content becomes available, both for games and general entertainment, the GT750 becomes a natural choice.”

The GT750 becomes the fourth member of Optoma’s award-winning GameTime line and includes features that create an immersive and exhilarating gaming experience. Its 2500 lumens of brightness and short throw lens combine to deliver bright, larger-than-life images,

even in small rooms that might not easily accommodate other projectors. And its powerful 10-Watt stereo speaker system delivers in-the-action sound without external speakers.

The GT750 offers a native widescreen 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, and is designed to maximize the widescreen attributes of major gaming platforms, including those running 3D content on Blu-ray disks. Optoma’s unique circuitry accepts Blu-ray’s HDMI 1.4a

3D signal and converts it for display in 720p resolution 3D.

It also is PC and MAC compatible, supports computer resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels (HD), and accepts common global video inputs and video formats up to 1080p (HDTV,EDTV, SDTV, NTSC, PAL, SECAM). The GT750 comes packaged with a custom backpack to accommodate the on-the-gogamer, and a remote control is also included as standard equipment.

The extender makes a simple plug-and-play solution that promises lossless video transmission with zero dropouts to displays up to 200 feet away using two industry-standard CAT-6 cables. The kit is fully HDCP compliant (in single-link mode) and supports local and pass-through EDID options at resolutions up to 2560×1600.

Previous solutions required more expensive cabling and add-on boosters to handle distances over 16 feet or so, whereas the Gefen kit requires nothing except the use of CAT-6 cabling (the company recommends shielded CAT-6a cables for best performance). The kit is comprised of two units, a sender box and receiver box. The sender unit is connected to the computer, the receiver to the remote display. Along with high-resolution video, RS-232 is also extended to the receiver box, offering convenient control over an equally long distance.

The extended range of the extender makes it ideal for digital signage, presentation and professional applications. The boxes themselves include locking power supplies to eliminate disconnects. The kit sells for $1,300 and is available now.

They include the LV-8225, which has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2,500 lumens of brightness and 1280×800 resolution, along with the closely-related LV-7490, LV-7390, LV-7295 and LV-7290. All five share auto-setup for the input and PC signal type, as well as vertical keystone correction.

Canon finds pros value low maintenance, and thus made the lamp last up to 6,000 hours in Quiet Mode for all but the LV-7490, where it lasts 5,000 hours. The filters are rated for 5,500 hours in all five when set to Eco Mode.

The wide-angle 1.2x zoom allows for shorter throw distances. In Quiet Mode, the projectors produce 29dB of sound.

An Ethernet jack and RS-232C serial port allow for hooking each device up to a network or for remote computer control.

The LV-7490 has a native resolution of 1024×768 and 4,000 lumens of brightness. The LV-7390, LV-7295, and LV-7290 models share the same resolution as the 7490 but offer 3,000, 2,600, and 2,200 lumens of brightness, respectively.

All five arrive in stores in April, with the LV-8225 priced at $800, the LV-7490 at $1,100, the LV-7390 at $800, the LV-7295 at $700, and the LV-7290 at $600

With the included wall mount or table mount sold separately, the BrightLink 455Wi interactive projector can be used to transform a wall, whiteboard or table into an interactive learning area. This flexibility is designed to allow educators to meet the varied learning needs of their students – whether in large groups, small work teams or even individually – while maximizing the existing space in their classrooms.

The Epson BrightLink 455Wi interactive projector + pen combination is an ultra-short throw solution offering image size flexibility and advanced connectivity options to project onto a whiteboard, wall, table, or other smooth, light-colored, hard surface. BrightLink offers installation flexibility by providing a wide range of XGA and WXGA usable interactive areas, and features 2,500 lumens color and white light output and native WXGA resolution (16:10 aspect ratio) for full compatibility with widescreen notebooks and visual content.

The solution includes two digital infrared pens, a new pen tray, and wall mount hardware for a great value and easy installation out of the box. An easy-to-attach table mount, which extends the BrightLink’s functionality to a standard tabletop, will be available separately. And due to its flexibility and compatibility with tables, the BrightLink 455Wi offers a larger interactive image area and wheelchair accessibility compared to existing interactive table solutions.

In addition, new accessories are available for the BrightLink 455Wi, providing greater versatility for the education environment. A height-adjustable mobile cart is designed specifically for an Epson ultra-short throw projector, and can be quickly rolled between classrooms. It comes equipped with a wide leg base, locking wheels and height-setting mechanism for different sized presenters. In addition, a new height-adjustable wall mount provides simple one-handed operation to adjust the height, making it easy to use for a variety of age groups.

More about the BrightLink 455Wi

Interactive Table Mode: When used with a specially designed table mount, the BrightLink 455Wi can be used to transform a table into an interactive table for small group learning centers, giving students a gathering place to explore digital lessons, play educational games and work together on interactive learning activities

Updated Interactive Driver: When using Microsoft tablet features and ink tools, BrightLink will automatically engage those tools, bringing them front and center for use with the projector

New Pen Tray: Holds two pens and can be attached magnetically or installed with included screws

Increased Speaker and Microphone Input: Dedicated input allows teachers to use a microphone to amplify voice using the increased internal 12W speaker, saving the teacher’s voice and ensuring all students can hear; volume can be adjusted using projector or remote control buttons

Flexible Size Setup: Creates one of the largest widescreen interactive areas without the need to pay a premium for size; select the size to match and maximize available space with variable image sizes from 59-inches to 96-inches diagonal (WXGA) or 55-inches to 85-inches diagonal (XGA)

Ultra-Short Throw Distance: Can be mounted as close as 2.8-inches away from the wall to accommodate smaller classrooms or meetings rooms, and can project a 80-inch diagonal image from only 10-inches away; new high performance optics virtually eliminate hardware and shadow interference

Simplified Network Monitoring and Control: Flexible sizing in a single projector can meet the needs of multiple room environments, and RJ-45 wired LAN connectivity for remote monitoring and control via an IT network helps saves time and money, regardless of the projector’s physical location

Message Broadcasting: Included EasyMP Monitor software allows projector to be used as a broadcast system to show customized images and alerts over the network for announcements or instructions

Low Total Cost of Ownership: New electrostatic air filter extends life of filter by 1,000 hours for a suggested 5,000 hour maintenance cycle

Closed Captioning: Built-in closed captioning decoder makes presentations accessible to viewers with hearing impairments with no added cost, and helps meet section 508 compliance

Easy Setup and Control: Instant On and Instant Off® helps to avoid delays when starting and finishing lectures; A/V Mute Slide instantly turns off the sound and images, customizable Sleep Mode saves energy, and 1.6x manual zoom offers positioning flexibility

USB Plug ‘n Play Instant Setup: Instantly projects images, transmits audio and controls the presentations from either a Windows® PC or Mac via a standard USB cable

3LCD Technology: Features the latest, 3LCD, 3-chip technology to deliver amazing, true-to-life color and detail for powerful presentations; 3LCD technology provides an energy efficient light engine which efficiently uses available lamp light to create stunning images; in contrast to 1-chip DLP technology, 3LCD requires, on average, 25 percent less electricity per lumen of brightness

Pricing and Availability

The Epson BrightLink 455Wi is currently available for an estimated street price of $2,199 ($1,699 for Brighter Futures) through select dealers on a state-by-state basis. The height-adjustable wall mount and height-adjustable mobile cart will be available in May for Brighter Futures pricing of $519 and $1,499 respectively. For additional information about the new BrightLink 455Wi, visit www.epson.com/brightlink.

Hitachi has selected Luidia’s award-winning eBeam technology to power its Ultimate Interactive Short Throw Projector.

The new Hitachi iPJ-AW250N Ultimate Interactive Short Throw Projector incorporates Luidia’s eBeam interactive technology to create a platform for capturing and sharing ideas by transforming flat surfaces into interactive and collaborative workspaces. The announcement was made today at the Integrated Systems Europe Show in Amsterdam.

“Hitachi is dedicated to providing solutions for the Education and Business Projector Market,” said Hiroki Nakano, Senior Manager of the Hitachi Projector Marketing Department. “We chose to partner with Luidia for our Ultimate Interactive Projector because their technology is leading edge. As a result, we are able to give users affordable solutions, requiring almost no time to transform any flat surface into an interactive workspace.”

Making Interactive Whiteboards Affordable

The Hitachi iPJ-AW250N turns any standard whiteboard or smooth surface into an interactive area, giving educators, engineers, architects, business users, and manufacturing departments powerful interactive capabilities without the expense and hassle of a traditional interactive whiteboard (IWB).

“More and more OEMs recognize the advantages that Luidia brings to enable interactivity. Hitachi’s announcement is another endorsement of our ability to deliver eBeam technology and closely partner with major OEMs,” said Roy Erez, Luidia Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development. “eBeam’s small footprint allows OEMs to easily integrate interactivity without compromising design, style and functionality. When combined with eBeam’s award winning technology, a foundation is formed to develop premium interactive products. Our industry-leading design methodology reduces the development cycle so manufacturers can create premium products that end users demand.”

The eBeam Ecosystem

For over eight years Luidia has produced an ecosystem of interactive digital capture and collaboration products. Luidia’s existing line of products includes the eBeam Edge the standard for portable surface capture. Its low cost and simple installation make it a high demand technology in both schools and emerging markets throughout the world. Luidia provides complete hardware and software solutions that enable interactivity in a wide range of products– from small and portable-sized devices, to projectors and mounts, to flat panel displays, to large format surfaces.

With Epson’s newly developed 3LCD Reflective technology, along with fully optimized high contrast ratios, these projectors aim to deliver the deepest blacks and brightest whites. In addition, each model features a dual-layer auto iris, built-in IDT HQV Vida Video Processor and PW390 video scaler, and Epson’s Super-resolution and FineFrame technologies to deliver state-of-the-art performance and image quality in each of their respective categories.
For 3D content, each projector includes two HDMI 1.4a ports and supports side-by-side (broadcast), frame series (Blu-ray), and above-below 3D transmissions. An external 3D Signal Emitter (PK-EM1) syncs the projected image with JVC’s Active Shutter 3D Glasses (PK-AG1). The external 3D signal emitter ensures solid signal transmission to the 3D glasses for a superior 3D experience, no matter what type of screen is used or how the home theater has been configured.

The DLA-RS50 and DLA-X7 offer 70,000:1 native contrast ratio, while the DLA-RS40 and DLA-X3 offer 50,000:1 native contrast ratio. All four projectors come with a two-year warranty and are compatible with JVC’s PK-AG1 Active Shutter 3D Glasses and PK-EM1 3D Signal Emitter (sold separately) for 3D presentations.

All six new projectors feature three 0.7″ 1920 x 1080 D-ILA devices and are designed around JVC’s third generation D-ILA High Dynamic Range optical engine that is optimized to provide exceptional native contrast ratios without a dynamic iris to artificially enhance contrast specifications. A directed light integration system and wire grid polarizer ensures optimum light uniformity and minimal crosstalk in the light path. In the top four models (DLA-RS60, DLA-RS50, DLA-X9, DLA-X7) a 16-step lamp aperture system matches the 16-step lens aperture to optimize the f-number (relative aperture) of the optics system in all steps. The DLA-RS40 and DLA-X3 feature a 16-step lens aperture.

With a new short arc gap, lamp brightness has been increased from earlier JVC models to 1,300 ANSI lumens. To reduce motion blur, JVC’s double-speed 120Hz Clear Motion Drive technology uses a newly developed LSI for frame interpolation black frame insertion.

The four top models -“ DLA-X7/DLA-RS50 and DLA-X9/DLA-RS60 -“ have been designed to achieve THX certification and are in the process of being tested by THX.

These same four models also include a new seven-axis color management system (R, G, B, C, M, Y and orange) that allows precise color tuning, especially in skin tones, and a choice of color profiles, including Adobe RGB, DCI and sRGB/HDTV. They have also been designed for ISF certification and will include an ISF C3 mode for professional calibration. Ninety-nine screen correction modes help to maximize viewing environments.

All six models share a completely new design, with a center-mounted lens and rear power, signal and control connectors for improved cable management and more versatile positioning and mounting options. Rear-to-front airflow also allows more placement flexibility while reducing thermal concerns.

Price and Availibility

The new JVC D-ILA projectors will be available in late November at the following prices:
DLA-RS60/DLA-X9 $11,995
DLA-RS50/DLA-X7 $7,995
DLA-RS40/DLA-X3 $4,495

JVC’s PK-AG1 3D glasses ($179) and PK-EM1 3D Signal Emitter ($79) will also be available in late November.

JVC has introduced a low-cost home theater projector that for the first time provides advanced D-ILA technology at an entry-level price. The new projector, to be marketed as the DLA-HD250 by JVC Consumer and the DLA-HD250Pro by JVC Professional, is priced below $3,000 and delivers 25,000:1 native contrast ratio and 1,000 ANSI lumens brightness.

The DLA-HD250/250Pro features three 0.7-inch 1920×1080 D-ILA devices for a naturally rich, flicker-free picture with true blacks and extraordinary luminance detail.
Mitsubishi has introduced its newest Diamond 3D 1080P full HD home theater projector at the CEDIA 2010.

“We’ve heard that this is ‘the year of 3D,’” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “But Mitsubishi has been selling 3D-ready TVs since 2007, so it’s the home entertainment industry that is finally catching up to us.”

Mitsubishi’s new Diamond 3D projector is packed with features designed to create crisp, vivid, engaging 3D images that can display over 100-inch screens, creating a true theater experience. Powered by an SXRD reflective liquid-crystal optical engine, Mitsubishi adds its own algorithms and processing technologies to create high-brightness, high-contrast (up to 120,000:1 full on/full off) images that are smooth, dazzling and true to the original content.

A key element in projector performance is its lens, and Mitsubishi has incorporated extra-low dispersion glass into its six-piece, 17-cluster structure for higher functionality that minimizes chromatic aberration. With its auto-iris function, Mitsubishi’s Diamond 3D home theater projector automatically sets the optimal aperture according to each scene, and its 120Hz refresh rate produces ultra-smooth transitions and amazing and life-like images. An independent management function allows adjustment to color characteristics such as hue, intensity and brightness individually (red, green, cyan, magenta and yellow), without affecting the other colors.

With a wide range of powered lens shift (100% vertical and 45% horizontal), this new Mitsubishi Diamond 3D projector is easy to install, even in a complicated room configuration. In some cases there may not be a need to turn the projector upside down in a ceiling mount, and its 1.8x powered-zoom range also gives installers additional installation flexibility.

At only 19dBa, this Diamond 3D projector is quiet, so viewers can hear the movie instead of an annoying projector hum. Two HDMI version 1.4 inputs support 3D signals, as well as provide easy set-up options for multiple video inputs, and its RS232 support offers plug-and-play connectivity with third-party remote operations.

Mitsubishi’s new Diamond 3D projector also offers low cost of ownership with an estimated 4000-hour lamp life in low conservation mode. It also has a rear-access lamp design for easy lamp exchanges and a one-year limited warranty on the lamp.

Congrats to the team that makes the Epson BrightLink 450Wi. It was named as best-of-show product for InfoComm 2010, and has been honored with Pacific Media Associates’ (PMA) Buckaroo Award. The Buckaroo Award recognizes products in the front projector category that project the best-looking pictures and attractive images in a variety of environments. ToT writer Doug met the Pacific Media Associates at this year’s SID in Seattle and found them to be a great group of people.

The Epson BrightLink 450Wi interactive projector + pen combination incorporates ultra-short throw distance, image size flexibility, and advanced connectivity options to project onto any existing whiteboard, wall or other smooth, light-colored, hard surface. BrightLink offers installation flexibility by providing a wide range of XGA and WXGA usable interactive areas. The solution includes two digital infrared pens and wall mount hardware.

“At PMA, it is imperative we provide the projection industry with information on the most advanced and cost-effective multimedia solutions available in the market today,” said Dr. William Coggshall, founder and president of PMA. “The Epson BrightLink is a perfect example of innovation at its best, deeming it worthy of a Buckaroo Award.”

The BrightLink 450Wi features 2,500 lumens color and white light output and easy-integration features, including networking. Using WXGA resolution (16:10 aspect ratio) for full compatibility with widescreen notebooks and video content, BrightLink can easily meet the space needs of any conference room by projecting images up to 96-inches diagonal (WXGA). The Epson BrightLink 450Wi also features the latest, 3LCD, 3-chip technology to deliver, true-to-life color and detail for presentations.

“We are pleased that PMA, one of the leading market information experts on front projection, has honored us with this award,” said Heather Gareis, senior product manager, Epson America. “Being chosen as a best-of-show product in the largest audio-visual event of the year speaks to the impact and innovation BrightLink brings to the market.”

When using BrightLink in conjunction with webinars or other common desktop-sharing utilities, remote users can simultaneously see what’s being written and presented so business users can easily update, annotate and save files in real-time. Presenters can capture notes and ideas on a virtual whiteboard that can be distributed via email or saved to a networked drive.

The Epson BrightLink 450Wi is currently available for $2,199 through national resellers, pro audio/visual dealers, and distribution.

At IFA this year, LG is out to show participants how it’s staying ahead of the 3D curve.

Showcasing a range that includes everything from the very latest in Nano Full LED and Plasma TVs, to Home Theater Systems and Blu-ray Disc Players, to the only complete selection of 3D projectors, LG is embracing the 3D revolution.

LED and Plasma 3D TVs

The top of the range is LG’s new LEX8, the world’s slimmest (0.88cm) and narrowest bezel (1.25cm) Full LED TV. In a world first for the TV industry, the LEX8 adds NANO Lighting Technology to LG’s FULL LED backlighting to produce pictures that are brighter, clearer and smoother than ever before.

Also on show are the new LEX9, which boasts the biggest LED LCD screen yet at 72 inches, and the LX9500, the world’s first Full LED 3D TV, which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year.

The LEX8, LEX9 and LX9500 also come with TruMotion 400Hz, which provides an ultra-fast screen refresh rate for better viewiong of 3D images.

LG PX950N

Next to the 180-inch Plasma 3D TV prototype, LG is also displaying the PX950N, its first Plasma 3D TV and the first TV in the world to receive 3D THX Certification. The 600Hz Max Sub-field Driving ensures smooth viewing of even the fastest action sequences.

The Plasma set’s self-illuminating pixels enable a wider viewing angle, meaning viewers can see complete, smooth 3D images wherever they choose to sit or even lie down in the living room. In addition, the PX950N supports the Multi Picture Format (MPF) function, enabling users to connect their 3D cameras to the TV and view their 3D pictures directly on the big screen.

The PX950N also provides connectivity through NetCast, DLNA certification and a wireless AV link.

3D Blu-ray Home Theater Systems

LG HX995TZ

Delivering top sound quality, LG’s HX995TZ and HLX55W offer a perfect platform for 3D movies and immersive, cinematic sound, along with the connectivity options of NetCast and DLNA.

Leading the way is the HX995TZ, a top-of-the-range Blu-ray Home Theater System whose exquisite wall-mountable design blends right in with practically any environment. With 1,100 watts of output, the HX995TZ delivers a truly room-filling sound. For consumers looking for the 3D Home Theater experience on a slightly smaller scale, LG also offers the HX995DF, with 2.1 Ch and 560 watts of output.

On the Compact side is LG’s HLX55W 3D Blu-ray sound bar. Comprising of a single black bar with a vertical Blu-ray Disc Player in its center, the HLX55W delivers 3D Blu-ray playback accompanied by 430-watt audio output and 4.1 Ch full surround sound. Rounding out the home theater systems is the new HX900, LG’s first Real 3D Sound Home Theater System, which embraces a completely new concept in home audio to produce a sound as deep and life-like as any 3D image.

3D Blu-ray Disc Players

LG BX580

LG has also updates its Blu-ray player line with three 3D-friendly models, the HR550, the BD590 and the BX580.

Along with Blu-ray Disc playback that is equally outstanding in 2D or 3D, the HR550 comes with built-in DVB-T/C/S tuners that eliminate the need for a digital set-top box. The tuners also make it possible for viewers to record a show or movie on one channel -“ including in 3D -“ while simultaneously watching a Blu-ray disc. For people who don’t need so much storage space, the BD590 offers all the same superb functions as the HR550, with the sole exception of built-in HDD.

The BX580 lets users enjoy a variety of 3D content in the Blu-ray format, while retaining outstanding 2D playback as well. In common with the HR550, the BX580 is also equipped with the superb connectivity options of NetCast and DLNA.

3D Projectors
Increasing the 3D options still further, LG’s two 3D projectors -“ the only selection to offer both Dynamic and CINEMA 3D.

The world’s first one-body, dual-engine CINEMA 3D projector transmitting full HD pictures, the CF3D can project an exceptional 2D or 3D picture with a diagonal span that stretches up to 200 inches. With TruMotion 100Hz practically eliminating image blur and 3D Auto Picture Calibration creating optimal brightness and color, the CF3D delivers a crisp, stunning blur-free picture. The CF3D also comes with six free pairs of glasses, meaning users can comfortably watch its wall-covering 3D projection in the company of family and friends.

Next is the BX327, a Dynamic 3D-type (DLP Link 3D Technology) 3D Projector with a diagonal span of up to 150 inches. Delivering brightness of 3,200 ANSI-lumens and the superb colors and contrast of 0.55″ DMD, the BX327 also produces a sharp 2D or 3D picture with crisp, perfectly aligned edges. Also, among projectors using DLP Link 3D Technology, the BX327 is the only one with HDMI, meaning users can enjoy 3D images without 3D compatible graphic cards.
