bloodstained_wii_u.0.0Koji Igarashi’s spiritual successor to his brand of Castlevania games, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, could make its way to Wii U, if the developer’s next Kickstarter stretch goal is met. And the developer has tapped Armature Studio, a team with experience making Metroid-style games, to bring the game to Nintendo’s console should that happen.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be ported to Wii U if the game’s crowdfunding campaign reaches $3 million, according to a recent update posted to Kickstarter. The game is already slated to come to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, with Igarashi and Inti Creates working on those versions.

Armature Studio, which created the metroidvania-style game Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, is responsible for a number of ports, including PlayStation Vita versions of Injustice: Gods Among Us and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, as well as Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. The studio was founded by former Retro Studios developers who worked on Nintendo’s Metroid Prime games.

“When we were approached with the opportunity to assist with Bloodstained on Wii U, we were ecstatic,” Armature said in a statement posted to Kickstarter. “This style of game is one we are intimately familiar with from our Metroid Prime days, and it’s exciting to once again put our familiarity with Nintendo hardware to good use. … We look forward to the challenge of making sure that the Wii U edition of Bloodstained stands proudly with its brethren on Unreal Engine 4.”

Bloodstained has raised about $2.75 million on Kickstarter since Igarashi launched his crowdfunding campaign earlier this month. The developer has at least one more stretch goal planned at $3.25 million.
