Canon has issued a firmware upgrade for its EOS 7D DSLR. Firmware v2 adds a number of improvements to the three-year old camera, allowing greater control of image settings and functionality. Changes include a higher maximum RAW burst rate, now up to 25 RAW files or 130 JPEGs, as well as a number of new in-camera editing functions.

Users can now adjust the white balance, sharpness, and Picture Style alongside processing RAW files. Extra controls over Auto ISO levels during both still and movie shooting also appear, allowing for limiting ISO speeds to within the native ISO 400 to 6,400 range. Videographers can also manually control the audio levels, and can choose from 64 sound level presets. Geotagging support through the Cannon GP-E2 GPS add-on unit has also been added to the camera.

Firmware v2 is available to download from Canon’s software site now.
