This Is Us - Season Pilot

Channel 4 has acquired U.K. broadcasting rights to Fox Television’s “This Is Us,” which premiered to strong ratings on NBC in the U.S. earlier this week.

The comedy drama, created by “Danny Collins” writer-director Dan Fogelman, follows the lives of a variety of people who share the same birthday, as their paths cross and lives intertwine. The pilot episode was directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who previously worked with Fogelman on 2011 feature “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

“This Is Us” features an ensemble cast including Sterling K. Brown, who won an Emmy on Sunday for “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones. An air date has not been set.

The show’s trailer broke Facebook records when it landed in May, amassing 64 million views on the social media site as well as 8.5 million on YouTube. “This Is Us” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and distributed by 20th Century Fox Television Distribution.
