borderlands-2Borderlands 2 is on its way to PlayStation Vita, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Jim Ryan announced during Sony’s Gamescom 2013 press briefing. While Ryan gave no other details, Randy Pitchford, president of Borderlands 2 developer Gearbox Software, said last fall that a PS Vita version of the game was a “real possibility.”

Borderlands 2 launched last September on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. As a follow-up note, Divekick developer Iron Galaxy Studios is working on the PS Vita version of Borderlands 2, and it will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment, said Gearbox Software product manager Adam Fletcher in a post on the Gearbox website.

In addition, said Sony Worldwide Studios Europe president Michael Denny, Sega is bringing Football Manager 2014, the upcoming soccer management simulation title, to Sony’s handheld. A PS Vita version of the game, which is already in development on Windows PC, Mac and Linux, was rumored by retail listings. The franchise has previously been available on PlayStation Portable, iOS and Android as Football Manager Handheld.

There’s no word yet on whether the PS3 and PS Vita versions will have any cross-platform functionality, and we don’t know if Borderlands 2’s four expansion packs (or any of its other downloadable content) will make their way to the PS Vita.
