Blizzard Signs Deal to Add Facebook Integration to Its PC Games

OverwatchPlayers of games like “Overwatch” and “World of Warcraft” will soon be able to show off their talents to all their Facebook friends, thanks to an expanded partnership between the social giant and Blizzard Entertainment.

Per the new deal, the popular game studio will integrate Facebook Live into all of its PC games. Players will be able to log into Hearthstone, Diablo and other games using their Facebook accounts. Adding Facebook Login should bring additional social functionality to Blizzard games and showcase Facebook as a platform for streaming game play.

Players can stream games, Blizzard is in the process of incorporating Facebook’s Live API in order to create its own “Go Live” streaming functionality for games. Preparing for the launch of its latest game, “Overwatch,” Blizzard enlisted Facebook and Instagram to help with a marketing push that included Carousel ads, Canvas, and Instagram Marquee.

By Facebook’s count, more than 650 million users play games connected to its platform, every month.
