BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing App Goes Beta

RIM on Friday launched its new BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app for scheduling, joining and rejoining conference calls. Available to BlackBerry Beta Zone members, it integrates into the native BlackBerry calendar and lets users connect to scheduled conference calls with one click. Dropped calls can also be reconnected with one click.

The app will also automatically choose the most appropriate number for each user, though this function is limited to North American numbers. The dial-in number can be changed manually, however.

Users can also turn meeting invites into a conference call with one click. Storing conference information to a conference profile is also available when scheduling from a BlackBerry device. Host codes are protected, as participants only see the information they need to join the call. Moderator codes are hidden and used only to open the conference bridge.

The app will soon be listed in the Eligible Programs section in members’ beta zone accounts
