Bautista Wants Out Of Guardians Of The Galaxy, Unless Gunn Penned Is Script Used

Following his comments earlier and his very vocal support for recently removed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn, actor Dave Bautista is following that up with action.

Speaking with The Short List, the actor who plays Drax the Destroyer in the two Guardians of the Galaxy films says he won’t return for the third if the studio refuses to use Gunn’s original script for the film:

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man, I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f–k this. This is bulls–t. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met. Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.”

Bautista added that being on the film without Gunn would be a disservice to the former director. Disney dismissed Gunn back in July when past controversial joke tweets were brought to light by a conservative blog. Previously the entire cast signed a statement asking for Disney to reinstate Gunn as the film’s director.

The third Guardians, which hasn’t set a production or release date, was meant to be the final outing for the original team.
