Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome Will Finally Premiere

The pilot for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome — a prequel spin-off commissioned two years ago but which Syfy decided not to order to series — is finally going to see the light of day.

In the first phase of a “three-tiered” strategy, Blood & Chrome will premiere Nov. 9 on the online channel Machinima Prime (YouTube.com/MachinimaPrime). There, the pilot will appear in 10 seven- to 12 minute chapters, trickling out through February 2013. After that, Blood & Chrome will air as a two-hour movie on Syfy (airdate TBA), then get an unrated Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release.

Blood & Chrome takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war that raged across the 12 colonial worlds. Amidst that melee, a gifted young fighter pilot, William Adama (Skins‘ Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. The ambitious Adama soon finds himself at odds with his co-pilot Coker (Stargate Atlantis‘ Ben Cotton), who only has 47 days left in his tour of duty and as such is as anxious to end the battle as Adama is to dig into it

David Eick executive-produced Blood & Chrome with fellow Battlestar Galactica/Caprica alum Michael Taylor, who wrote the screenplay, and others. Jonas Pate (Caprica) directed.
