Attack on Titan is still a hugely popular Japanese manga series, and Koei Tecmo has announced that another game based on the series – Escape from Certain Death – will be coming to 3DS on 30th March 2017. Set in an old castle, fans can expect a brand new original story following the adventure of a Survey Corp member.

An overview of the story reads as follows:

While investigating the outskirts of a certain old castle, the Survey Corps are caught in a Titan assault. The ground collapses amid the chaos, and the protagonist ends up falling into an underground part of the old castle. Just narrowly escaping death, the protagonist cannot return to the surface as their Three Dimensional Manoeuvre Gear has broken. The protagonist links up with a single “partner” and attempts to escape the castle underground shrouded in mystery, but…?

Developed by Ruby Party, the game is due to be released as a download, standard physical release and a special Treasure Box edition for all the super manga fans out there. It will cost a pretty penny – and by penny we mean Yen, of course; it’ll be priced at 5,800 Yen for the standard edition and 12,800 for Treasure Box. The special edition includes:

  • A copy of the game
  • Soundtrack
  • Waterproof Poster
  • Visual Book
  • Large Tin Badge
  • Miksasa and Levi 3DS theme with voices downloaded code

There is no announcement on whether the game will be coming to the West; the previous 3DS installment eventually made its way out of Japan, so there is some hope. Meanwhile, check out the teaser trailer below to get your first glimpse:
