AT&T has made an agreement with Wi-Fi hotspot network Fon to provide each others customers with overseas Wi-Fi. Customers of Fon will be able to use AT&T’s 30,000-location Wi-Fi hotspot network at various stores and businesses in the United States, while AT&T customers can use Fon’s international network of close to 12 million hotspots.

The deal covers smartphones, tablets, and other Wi-Fi devices, with connections triggered by the AT&T Wi-Fi International app for iOS and Android. AT&T customers using either the 300MB or 800MB Data Global Add-Ons, priced at $60 and $120 per month respectively, will receive 1GB of international Wi-Fi per month, though it is not clear if access will be stopped once the limit is reached or if there will be an extra charge for more international Wi-Fi access.

“Our agreement with Fon further expands our international Wi-Fi footprint making it easier for AT&T customers to stay connected to what matters most during their travels abroad,” said JR Wilson, vice president of partnerships and alliances at AT&T.
