T-Mobile is still moving forward like rebels they have been the last few years at CTIA unveiling of a slew of expected but high-end devices. The G2X is its adaptation of the LG Optimus 2X and has its dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2, four-inch screen, front camera, and eight-megapixel rear camera. It ships with Android 2.2 and now with a handful of apps to use the speed and features, such as Need for Speed Shift HD and NOVA for games as well as Qik video chat.

The carrier hasn’t given a price and is committing only to a spring launch date for the G2X.

G-Slate Gets a Price

Also revealed was pricing for the G-Slate. LG’s first Android 3.0 tablet will be more to own than a larger 3G iPad 2, priced officially at $530 but only after a $100 rebate signing a two-year contract. The tablet includes a pair of rear cameras for 3D recording and output to a 3D TV, but it primarily focuses on speed and portability through NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor and an 8.9-inch screen. Its ship date also isn’t yet clear.

HSPA+ Network Now Live in Three Cities

The launch wrapped up with word that T-Mobile’s 42Mbps HSPA+ network was now active in three cities, conveniently including CTIA host Orlando as well as Las Vegas and New York City. The latter’s expansion would include Long Island and the adjacent northern New Jersey area; Chicago will also come soon. By mid-year, T-Mobile only expects to have covered 25 markets but will reach about 140 million potential users.

To kick off the service, a ZTE-made Rocket 3.0 is coming to hit the 42Mbps speeds. This product was teased at a private event during this year’s CES. Also due are the Rocket 4G, a 21Mbps modem meant for prepaid data; the Jet 2.0 for budget subscription users, and a ZTE-created 21Mbps hotspot. The Jet 2.0 is due March 23, but every other device only has a spring timetable.
