Ashton Kutcher to Play Steve Jobs

Variety has made serious claims on Sunday that Ashton Kutcher will play Steve Jobs in an independent movie. The Five Star Institute-produced title Jobs is expected to enter production in May, during Kutcher’s break from Two and a Half Men. The project will reportedly focus on Jobs’ early days on his way to founding Apple.

Swing Vote director Joshua Michael Stern would oversee the movie, with Matt Whiteley writing the script.

It’s not known when the movie would reach theaters. Neither Five Star Institute nor the key people involved have commented.

Jobs wouldn’t be the only biopic about the late technology CEO, but it may be the first to have committed production plans. Sony Pictures has reportedly been looking to tap Aaron Sorkin for a project with a more mainstream focus and possibly larger scope. It has yet to be confirmed outside of Sorkin not expressly denying that it was under consideration.
