Apple’s plans for new routers were confirmed Tuesday with a quiet update to the Time Capsule. Although no press release or store update has arrived so far, the company’s splash page now shows the hybrid router and network storage as “available in 2TB and 3TB models.” It had previously stopped at 2TB, and the 1TB model has now been phased out.

Many of the details are still vague, including whether or not it will cache software updates. Most anticipate it getting 450Mbps support with a 3X3 antenna array.

Prices so far haven’t been revealed for the new models, although hints have appeared that they would drop below the existing $299 and $499 prices. An AirPort Extreme update is known to be coming as well and should bring 450Mbps speeds along with another price drop.
