Apple has added a handful of new channels to Apple TV units in the US, Canada, the UK, French- and German-speaking regions in Europe, and Australia today. Starting immediately, US owners can now watch CBS Sports (which does not require a cable subscription login) or USA Now, which does require a login. In Canada, viewers will now see either CraveTV (if they are Bell subscribers) or Showmi (for Rogers or Shaw cable customers). Other countries have also received different new channels.

European Apple TV users in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland can now receive the popular arts-and-culture channel ARTE, which does not require any cable or satellite authentication. UK residents can opt to subscribe to a new children’s channel, Hopster, for £4 ($6US) per month.

Similarly, Australian users can now opt to subscribe to Fox Sports for a fix of mostly US sports for AU$5 ($4US) per month. The Canadian Showmi channel offers video-on-demand movies and TV shows for CAN$9 ($7.50US) per month. CraveTV for Bell subscribers in Canada brings what it calls “the best of” American premium channels like HBO and Showtime for CAN$4 a month. All the new channels should be available now.
