Apple confirmed that it has acquired a small startup called Perceptio that develops artificial intelligence software.
Specifically, Perceptio lets businesses push advanced AI on smartphones without forcing end users to share too much of their data. The tools use deep learning to power advanced image-recognition software without drawing from external data repositories.
Just last week, Apple acknowledged that it acquired a separate AI firm called VocalIQ, though that company’s forte rests with natural language recognition.
