Variety brings word that Shrek, Shrek 2, and “The Chronicles of Narnia” director Andrew Adamson has signed on to direct Inherit the Earth, a big screen adaptation of the IDW series Zombies vs. Robots.
Set to be produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs, the film is a co-production of Platinum Dunes, Circle of Confusion and IDW Publishing with Sony Pictures set to distribute. Oren Uziel wrote the most recent draft of the script.
The original series, from Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall, features a post-apocalyptic world in which humanity’s last survivor, a young girl, is protected from zombie hordes by a team of robots. The original miniseries was followed by a sequel, “Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons.”
