hbo-logoSubscribers of Amazon Prime will be able to enjoy classic HBO shows in the near future, the retailer has revealed. At the same time, Amazon has announced HBO Go will be added to the company’s Fire TV, allowing the streaming media box to show recently-broadcast programs as well as its archive of over 1,700 shows, original films, and specials.

Prime Instant Video will gain the HBO programming from May 21st, though only for older material. The multi-year deal will show a large number of programs including The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Deadwood, with previous seasons of more-recent shows such as Veep and Girls being added approximately three years after being aired on HBO.

The HBO Go app is expected to hit the Fire TV before the end of the year, with the app also said to be taking advantage of the Fire TV’s unified voice search. While Prime users will gain access to the older catalog, the HBO Go app will have the same access to programming as subscribers have today on other platforms.
