Sega has confirmed it has delayed the release of sci-fi shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines to Feb. 12, 2013.

The game from studio Gearbox Software was originally scheduled to hit stores this fall.

Colonial Marines has been billed as the sequel to the Aliens film trilogy, as players board the abandoned U.S.S. Sulaco to investigate what happened to the ship’s crew.

The February launch date applies to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 copies of the game. Release details on a version of Aliens designed for Nintendo’s Wii U console will be revealed soon, says Sega.

This is the third game in recent weeks that has moved away from the fall 2012 launch window into 2013.

Earlier this month BioShock Infinite and reboot of Tomb Raider were push out to 2013 releases.
