A handful of online sources have listed the new 27″ Acer G-Sync monitor, which goes by the less-than-elegant product name XB270HAbprz.

This is a Full HD (1920 x 1080) monitor, and Acer built it with a TN panel, which provides 170-degree horizontal viewing angles and 160-degree vertical viewing angles. The static contrast ratio is 1000:1, and it has a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of just 1 ms. Given that this is a gaming monitor, we shouldn’t be too surprised to see a TN panel rather than an IPS panel.

Nvidia G-Sync is a proprietary Nvidia technology which aims to remove screen tearing, stuttering and display lag. While you will need a G-Sync-compatible Nvidia graphics card and monitor to leverage the technology, it will result in a much smoother gaming experience at frame rates above roughly 30 FPS, depending on your level of sensitivity. Given that this is a 144Hz monitor with G-Sync support, we imagine that the experience will be butter smooth.

Regarding connectivity, this monitor only provides the basics. There is a single DisplayPort input and a USB 3.0 hub, and that’s it. Hopefully there is more, but we can’t find any reference to additional connectivity.

It EU is have been listed for preorder for €499. Considering taxes and exchange rates, we would expect this one to cost about $499 in the US. Japanese availability is slated for August 22. USA release date is unknown at this time.
