Nashville CastIt’s the end of the road for “Nashville” as the ABC series has officially been cancelled. The country music themed soap, starring Connie Britton, is currently in the midst of its fourth season. The May 25 season finale will serve as the series ender.

This season, “Nashville” is averaging a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers overall in Nielsen’s “live plus-7” estimates. It consistently ranked third in its 10 p.m. hour, wasting a solid lead-in from the network’s hit comedy lineup.

Along with Britton, the series stars Hayden Panettiere, Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Will Chase, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Aubrey Peeples, Lennon Stella and Maisy Stella. Eric Close starred in the first three seasons. Britton and Panettiere toplined the show, playing dueling country music stars, Rayna Jaymes and Juliette Barnes.

Callie Khouri created the show, which has a rabid fanbase, but has consistently been on the bubble year-after-year.
