Gowalla has announced the immediate availability of a native Gowalla application specifically crafted for Palm webOS phone users. With the new application, Palm Pre and Palm Pixi owners can now download the application from the Palm App Catalog on their phone and enjoy a customized Gowalla experience.
“Palm webOS is a beautiful mobile operating system and we live in a beautiful world,” said Josh Williams, CEO and co-founder of Gowalla. “It only seems right to have Gowalla for webOS showcasing the rich experience of our service. We’re very happy that Pre and Pixi owners can now go out with Gowalla too.”
Palm webOS users can now enjoy a Gowalla experience tailored for their specific phones. With their location-aware Pre or Pixi phones, users can quickly locate nearby restaurants, parks, museums, boutiques and more. Gowalla makes it easy to check in, share the location with friends, then leave a comment for future visitors. The release of Gowalla for webOS is in time to coincide with Austin, Texas’ SXSW Interactive Festival that kicks off on March 12. Users of Gowalla for webOS will be able to “check in” at SXSW venues, sessions and events to share their whereabouts with fellow attendees and to earn SXSW-related rewards.
“Palm webOS is all about staying connected in a fast-moving world,” said Joe Hayashi, vice president, Platform and Tools, Palm, Inc. “With its ability to ‘check in’ and connect people and places around the globe, Gowalla is a perfect fit for webOS and an exciting addition to the Palm App Catalog.”
Palm will be giving away a number of Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus phones through Gowalla at SXSW as virtual goods redeemable for the actual devices. Gowalla for webOS is available free in the Palm App Catalog or at www.Gowalla.com.
