4K Assets Won’t Be Flooding All Xbox One Owners

The upcoming Xbox One X console is capable of 4K output but the standard Xbox One does not do 4k, and when it comes to gaming the Xbox One S can output at 4K, but it does so by upscaling 1080p game play.

So will your valuable hard drive space get filled up with useless 4k graphics, if you are not on Xbox One X?
No! Microsoft has confirmed it will only download 4K data to owners of the Xbox One X.

Now there is still one scenario where you may have unneeded 4k graphics. Since the Xbox One X will better graphics on an 1080p TV set than the past versions of the console in some games and/or you still have not found the 4K TV of your dream, you will get 4K assets anyways.  In other words,  even if your Xbox One X is running on a old HD set, not a 4K TV set, Microsoft will still download the 4K assets to your Xbox because it doesn’t check your TV resolution. This should be a small group of people. Think of those files as a gaming Hope Chest waiting for the day your Xbox One X gets the 4K TV bride.
